David and Hannah Wedding at Alderson House, Warwick

Wedding Photography at Alderson House, Warwick, Warwickshire

On the 3rd of June this year I photographed the wedding of David and Hannah at Alderson House, in Warwick. This is the second time I have covered a wedding at Alderson House and it certainly makes a different wedding venue from the norm because it is the local lodge for the Warwick branch of the masons. The building itself is a lovely Georgian style house with plenty of light and interesting features.

It was close family wedding filled with emotion and love, the weather held out for some nice relaxed images of the wedding and the group pictures and the portraits afterwards. Below is a small sample of the images taken.

Emma & Tim Wedding Photography at the Mallory Court Hotel in Leamington, Warwickshire

Overview-6-of-9

I have known Emma & Tim for quite a few years now, I have done two sets of family portraits for them at my studio over the five and a half years I have been based in Warwick. It was great to be asked to do their wedding photography as well. The wedding itself was very low key, just Emma and Tim, their two children and two friends, the ceremony itself was held at the registry office just opposite my studio at Shire Hall in Warwick and then for the wedding photographs at the Mallory Court Hotel.

This would be my third visit to the Mallory Court Hotel, it is a lovely hotel with art deco/arts and crafts feel to it, it also has lovely gardens, which we were all looking forward to having photos in. However, the weather had other ideas with heavy rain throughout the day. But, although Emma was disappointed with the weather, for me the rain was another photo opportunity.

It was heavy rain but I didn't mind getting wet as far as I am concerned, as long as we get the pictures I'll do whatever is required including getting soaked to the skin in my suit.

Wedding Photography St Nicholas Church Alcester and Kings Court Hotel Alcester

On Saturday 6th May 2017 I was employed to do the wedding photography for Emma & Owen for a blessing at St Nicholas Church in Alcester with a reception at Kings Court Hotel in also in Alcester.

The event had all the trappings of a full-blown wedding but it was, in fact, a blessing because Emma and Owen had already tied the knot in Jamacia the week previous.

This was my first trip to St Nicholas Church in Alcester, it is a lovely church with a nice teal coloured ceiling and plasterwork. I am somewhat of a fan of visiting churches but that is another story.

The day started and ended at the Kings Court Hotel with a vintage white Rolls Royce as transport between venues, the weather was cloudy but we made the best of the weather. The bridal party was in full traditional clothing with Emma looking stunning in a traditional wedding dress. My aim with all wedding photography is to capture the day as it unfolds and to not interfere too much in the events instead concentrating on capturing the mood. This approach leads to more natural photos which is exactly the brief Emma gave me when I was booked.

Below are a few examples of the photographs out of over 300 taken.

Wedding Photography at Stonehenge & The Hawk Conservancy Trust

_035

On 22nd April 2017 I provided the wedding photography for Sarah and Brett held at Stonehenge in Wiltshire and The Hawk Conservancy Trust in Hampshire.

I had done some work previously for Sarah and when she mentioned that she would like to employ me for her wedding at Stonehenge I was over the moon. Stonehenge is right up there as a national landmark with the Houses of Parliment and Big Ben.

The day started at 6.00 am where we all met in the car park of Stonehenge to take the shuttle bus to the Stones. My working day started here, it was light with a glimmer of orange on the horizon.  I wanted to capture in the build up of the guest arriving at the bus stop plus the orange horizon.

The dress code for the day was casual except Sarah and Brett were wearing capes and the high priests had traditional clothing on. Once at Stonehenge proper security advised us that we had exactly one hour for inside the stones and strictly no touching stones. Immediately I ran off to get some landscape pictures of the stones before the procession arrived.

Pretty much as soon as the procession had arrived in the circle the service started, where I spent my time moving in and out of the stones capturing the emotions of the ceremony it was very unusual to be able to move 360 degrees around the subject. Usually, registars or vicars don't like to photographers to move too much in services, this was not the case here although I had two security guards watching my every move.

The ceremony lasted 45 minutes which left not much time to get some portraits of the Sarah and Brett and also allow them some time to take the scene in. I took some 500 images in the hour available I don't think I have ever taken so many images in such a short amount of time but I have never been to a wedding at Stonehenge before and didn't want to miss a single detail.

Call me crazy but I could feel a fuzziness coming from the stones but before I had time to think about it, it was over with a security guard saying time up and get back on the bus back to the visitor centre. It was over too quick, but there was no talking the guards round it straight back to the visitor centre.

The next part of the wedding was at the Hawk Conservancy Trust just up the road in Hampshire. It is a sanctuary for birds of prey with regular shows throughout the day. The weather in the morning had been quite cloudy but now the sun was out for the blessing in a wild flower meadow covered in cowslips. I have only seen small clumps before of one or two cowslips nothing like the scale of this place.

The blessing was very calm and tranquil, the sun was out making a complete opposite to the handfasting ceremony in the morning. After the blessing, there was some confetti which made for some beautiful pictures.

The rest of the day was spent watching the birds of prey shows interweaved with a three-course meal. It was a spectacular wedding day the handfasting ceremony in the morning was amazing and then wildflower meadow and the birds of prey it was fantastic. I rounded the day off with some portraits of Sarah and Brett in the wildflower meadow and then drive back to Warwick through the Cotswolds as the sunset -  what a day!

Jon & Corrie Wedding Photography Warwick House Southam

Jon & Corrie Wedding Photography Warwick House Southam

Jon & Corrie Wedding Photography Warwick House Southam

On the 31st March, I provided the wedding photography for Jon and Corrie at Warwick House wedding venue in Southam, Warwickshire. Jon and Corrie had approached me because I have been to Warwick House a few times as a wedding photographer I was able to be flexible in the wedding photography coverage offered and they liked my work.

I have been a wedding photographer now for eight years although my business is not purely wedding photography, it does mean that all the experience I have learnt from the various types photography that I do and my equipment is used to the full when I do weddings.

On the wedding day itself, the weather was changeable so it was decided to have the wedding inside the venue the preference was outside but it wasn't realistic because of the wet ground, unfortunately.  When I arrived I started by photographing the guests arriving up until the service and into service itself, I like to stand back and capture the events as they unfold at this stage.

Once the wedding service at finished we headed outside for more reportage style wedding photography then onto the gardens at the back of the venue for the groups and the portraits of Jon and Corrie.   Then on our way back around to the front of the building, I was able to capture some relaxed portraits under a tree, with the low sun and the white washed frontage to the building the images had a Mediterranean feeling to them.

All in all, it was a great wedding from my perspective a couple of hours flat out from which I delivered 170 edited images supplied copyright free for Jon and Corrie's use.

Spring Wedding in Warwick at Hill Close Gardens

Spring Wedding in Warwick at Hill Close Gardens

On the 25th March 2017, I provided the wedding photographer Warwickshire for Rachel and Paul at Pageant House in Warwick. Followed by the reception and drinks at Hill Close Gardens.

After a long winter, the weather that weekend was the first proper blast of the sunshine we had seen in a long time. Perfect blue sky mixed with spring flowers, blossom and bloom lead to a special wedding.  We did their engagement photos on a cold, grey January day so it made the perfect change to have a sunny wedding. It was a great day enjoyed by all.

Photo Restoration Service Warwickshire

Photo Restoration Service Warwickshire

Recently I had the pleasure of being asked to restore one of the few photographs for George Sanders (VC) through my photo restoration service. George was one of the six hundred and twenty-seven recipients of Victoria Cross in World War One.

A relative of George's who had been researching his story after the sale of George's medals to the Lord Ashcroft Collection and had heard our photo restoration service and brought the photo to us to see what we could do to restore it.

The photo was very badly worn but we were able to restore it with a new copy printed to the same size and supply a digital copy.

It was very interesting to hear about the bravery of a who man who took part in the infamous Battle of the Somme and not only lived to tell the tale but saved many lives through great courage and determination taking charge of a small group of soldiers caught far ahead of the main advance.

Warwickshire Wedding Photographer

Warwickshire Wedding Photographer

On the 4th March I photographed Rebecca and Morgan for their wedding at the Pageant House Registry Office in Warwick. The wedding was a small affair with only a few guests but for what it lacked in guests it made up for in emotion. It was very touching to see this young couple tie the knot and afterwards the sun shone for some early spring pictures in the Pageant Garden.

Small Wedding @ Mallory Court Hotel, Warwickshire

Back on the 19th December 2016, I provided wedding photography for a small family wedding at Mallory Court Hotel near to Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.  It was only a small gathering so I agreed on an hourly rate with an additional fee for a print box and USB stick.

The Mallory Court is a lovely venue although I have never visited it in the summer always in the winter. Getting married were William and Leslie who had been partners for 25 years already, joining them were their sons and their girlfriends.

The weather typical cold grey December day but with some added flash I was able to lighten the scene and create some flattering images for the family to keep as a reminder of their special day.

Staff Portraits Warwickshire

Between September and November 2016 I was tasked with providing staff portraits photographing over forty staff for a veterinary company based in Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

My client wanted relaxed but a uniform style of portrait, I approached the task by agreeing a basic style of portrait that would be used for all the staff at all locations, six practices all with varying amounts of free space within each to set up and do the portrait photography.

Over the course of three day's I worked out of an X-Ray Theatre, a broom cupboard, an operating theatre and cramped staff rooms with all spaces having different coloured walls and ambient temperatures.  It was difficult to get the portraits to be exactly the same as I would have been able to if they were all taken in my studio but I am pleased with the results.

I also did some exterior and interior action photography for some operations taking place for a few of the practices at the request of my client. Overall it was a fun project getting to meet all of the staff of the business and see some cute animals as well.

Wedding Photography at The Pageant House Warwick and The Glebe Hotel Barford

On 22nd October 2017 I photographed the wedding of Tom and Beccy first at the Pageant House in Warwick and then onto The Glebe Hotel in Barford. Tom and Beccy are actually previous customers for whom I did studio family portraits for a few years ago. It was great to see them again and how their children had grown.

The Pageant House it is the better of the two registry offices in Warwick with a nice interior and garden area.  This visit though was on a gorgeous autumn day when the trees where full turn and the light was fantastic.

After doing some pictures in the service and in the gardens we headed to The Glebe Hotel in Barford. I have actually been to the Globe before but have driven past many times and wonder what it is like. It is a small hotel ideal for small weddings and I can see why Tom & Beccy booked it.

In the garden, it has a large wall creeping plant that was in its full autumnal colour change which made a lovely backdrop for the couple photographs.

Here a small selection of the one hundred and seventy three images given to Tom and Beccy for our two hour wedding photography package.

Wedding Photography at Wethele Manor 7th October 2016

On the 7th October 2016 I provided the wedding photography for the wedding of Richard and Samantha Thornton at Wethele Manor in Warwickshire. This was my first visit to Wethele I was very impressed with the venue and its helpful staff. As you would expect from an October wedding the weather is always an issue especially with outside weddings but thankfully apart from being a little bit cold the weather held out.

It was great day Richard & Sam had gone for our all day package, Rebecca started at 10.00 am for the bridal photographs and I started at 11.00 am to capture the rest of the preparations working through until late in the evening.  It was a really nice day. Oh and I did some aerial pictures of the venue with our drone. Unlike a lot of photographers who fly drones we are certified by the CAA and insured.

Wedding Photography at Alderson House Warwick, Warwickshire

On the 24th September 2016 I was hired to provide the wedding photography for the wedding of Emma and Steve at the Alderson House in Warwick, Warwickshire. The Alderson House is actually an active lodge for the Warwick masons which makes for a more unusual venue for a wedding.  I was booked to start my day at Emma's home in Bishops Tachbrook through until just before the wedding breakfast.

It was a lovely day the weather held out, Emma had made a fanastic effort of decorating the venue in a vintage style, they also hired a vintage car. Here is a small selection of the images taken.

Product Photography Warwickshire

An exciting project in September was the product photography of Jodie & Gold a local up and coming fashion designer. Jodie has just launched her new range of clothing and needed good quality photography to show the designs off.

After discussing the new range with Jodie and her own ideas of what the photography should be like, we settled on doing the product photography within Jepherson Gardens in Leamington Spa. The gardens were a good choice because they provide varied and classical scenes that suited the floral and geometic designs of the clothing.

The weather on the day was interesting in that the forecast up until the day was cloudy and then as we started to take some pictures the sun came out for completely blue skies with bright sunshine. The complete opposite of what we had planned for but despite some grumblings from me we adapted to the weather and got really nice pictures for Jodie’s website.

Warwickshire Wedding Photographer

Over the summer I have provided wedding photography for several weddings all have been brilliant, I am thankful to the happy couples for employing me to cover their wedding days.  My aim with this blog is to update it a couple of times a week with what we've been up and show off work. However in busier times it is hard to make the time to write a blog and now I am somewhat behind.

In August I covered the wedding for Philip & Lena, which was held at the Pagneant House in Warwick followed by a reception within the ballroom of the old Court House.

I booked for a few hours to cover the ceremony and the formal portraits and the general scene within two hours. Philip and Lena wanted a relaxed vintage feel to the photography whilst also capturing the pictures of the family groups that everyone loves.

Company Business Portraits Warwickshire

Earlier in the summer I was approached by a local firm of solicitors who needed business portraits of all their staff, with two offices and twenty staff I needed to make two visits to there main office. One visit to photograph the majority of staff and another to capture the remaining staff and reshoot anybody who didn't like there portraits from the first visit.

My brief for the project was simply to create business portraits of the staff that were of good quality and I could have just gone for standard white background portraits but I prefer to tailor my work to each client. Are talking over the ideas I had with Mark the senior partner we decided on a style that was a bit more artistic.

Rosey and Sean Wedding Photography at the Warwickshire Golf Club

On the 30th July I covered the wedding of Rosey and Sean for a whole day wedding photography package from the bridal preparations to the first dance. The wedding service was held at St Martins Church on the Rugby Road in Leamington Spa with the reception held at The Warwickshire Golf Club. The day started for Rebecca my colleague at The Travel Lodge in Leamington and for me at the church an hour later. This is the advantage of having two wedding photographers because we can be in two places at once and also when in the same location take photographs of the same subject from different aspects.

All went well for the bridal prep but at the church the vicar told me that pictures were not allowed during the ceremony, which was disappointing but sometimes vicars and registrars can be awkward it is few and far between though.   If I am honest I did sneak in a few pictures of crucial moments of the service from the back of the church because I am being paid to take photographs and if I have to bend the rules a little bit I will do as long as it doesn't upset anyone.

For the transportation of guests a vintage double decker bus had been hired and for the bride and groom a horse and carriage to take them to The Warwickshire and with my local knowledge we were able to drive around the back lanes and arrive at the venue before the bus and the carriage.

The weather at the venue was sunny but we some cloud, the speeches were very good with a brutal best mans speech and then surprise or two for the guests with the announcement that Rosey was pregnant and the surprise guest of Steve Bull a famous Wolves football player arriving at the end of the speeches Rosey is a Wolves fan and Sean a Leicester Fan.

I  rounded the day off with a drone video selfie of the wedding crowd and the venue in the background. I am a qualified and insured drone (uav pilot) the Warwickshire has loads of space so I thought why not try a selfie as a bonus for the happy couple.  After this I left just after the first dance it was an enjoyable day here is small sample of the 500 images that were supplied to the Happy couple.

Product Photography Warwickshire

Commercial and product photography has always been a core service provided by Squire & Squire Photography.  In the seven years we have been in business we still retain the same commercial photography customers that we started with and add many more each year. We value all jobs no matter how large or small, sometimes a client may have a handful of items to be photographed or an entire shop full but the output is always same the best quality product photography.

Recently we were approached to photograph over one hundred fifty stock lines for a men's clothing and formal wear Hire Company based in Leamington Spa.  They had high expectations of creating a new stylish website with high quality product photography.

We have photographed clothing on mannequins, with models and flat from the very beginning. However to achieve great product photography it is not only about the photographer but also about dressing the product to look as it should. This is why we actively involve our clients in the photography process listening to their ideas of how they want to see the product, doing test shots until we get the an output our customers are 110% happy with.

Below is a small sample of the images taken.

Alex & Jim Wedding Photography at Lord Leycester Hospital

The Lord Leycester is great venue and one of my favourite places in to do Wedding Photography in Warwick because unlike most venues it is a charity that looks after retired service men and they're wives. Similar to the Chelsea Pensioners the "Brothers" who run the Lord Leycester are all ex services who run the building under the supervision of a "master" a retired officer in return for their lodgings. Also the venue is a fantastic building and my hope that is the more weddings that are held there the more money can be invested in its upkeep.
