Jon & Corrie Wedding Photography Warwick House Southam

On the 31st March, I provided the wedding photography for Jon and Corrie at Warwick House wedding venue in Southam, Warwickshire. Jon and Corrie had approached me because I have been to Warwick House a few times as a wedding photographer I was able to be flexible in the wedding photography coverage offered and they liked my work.

I have been a wedding photographer now for eight years although my business is not purely wedding photography, it does mean that all the experience I have learnt from the various types photography that I do and my equipment is used to the full when I do weddings.

On the wedding day itself, the weather was changeable so it was decided to have the wedding inside the venue the preference was outside but it wasn't realistic because of the wet ground, unfortunately.  When I arrived I started by photographing the guests arriving up until the service and into service itself, I like to stand back and capture the events as they unfold at this stage.

Once the wedding service at finished we headed outside for more reportage style wedding photography then onto the gardens at the back of the venue for the groups and the portraits of Jon and Corrie.   Then on our way back around to the front of the building, I was able to capture some relaxed portraits under a tree, with the low sun and the white washed frontage to the building the images had a Mediterranean feeling to them.

All in all, it was a great wedding from my perspective a couple of hours flat out from which I delivered 170 edited images supplied copyright free for Jon and Corrie's use.

Wedding Photography at The Pageant House Warwick and The Glebe Hotel Barford

On 22nd October 2017 I photographed the wedding of Tom and Beccy first at the Pageant House in Warwick and then onto The Glebe Hotel in Barford. Tom and Beccy are actually previous customers for whom I did studio family portraits for a few years ago. It was great to see them again and how their children had grown.

The Pageant House it is the better of the two registry offices in Warwick with a nice interior and garden area.  This visit though was on a gorgeous autumn day when the trees where full turn and the light was fantastic.

After doing some pictures in the service and in the gardens we headed to The Glebe Hotel in Barford. I have actually been to the Globe before but have driven past many times and wonder what it is like. It is a small hotel ideal for small weddings and I can see why Tom & Beccy booked it.

In the garden, it has a large wall creeping plant that was in its full autumnal colour change which made a lovely backdrop for the couple photographs.

Here a small selection of the one hundred and seventy three images given to Tom and Beccy for our two hour wedding photography package.

Wedding Photography at Alderson House Warwick, Warwickshire

On the 24th September 2016 I was hired to provide the wedding photography for the wedding of Emma and Steve at the Alderson House in Warwick, Warwickshire. The Alderson House is actually an active lodge for the Warwick masons which makes for a more unusual venue for a wedding.  I was booked to start my day at Emma's home in Bishops Tachbrook through until just before the wedding breakfast.

It was a lovely day the weather held out, Emma had made a fanastic effort of decorating the venue in a vintage style, they also hired a vintage car. Here is a small selection of the images taken.

Rosey and Sean Wedding Photography at the Warwickshire Golf Club

On the 30th July I covered the wedding of Rosey and Sean for a whole day wedding photography package from the bridal preparations to the first dance. The wedding service was held at St Martins Church on the Rugby Road in Leamington Spa with the reception held at The Warwickshire Golf Club. The day started for Rebecca my colleague at The Travel Lodge in Leamington and for me at the church an hour later. This is the advantage of having two wedding photographers because we can be in two places at once and also when in the same location take photographs of the same subject from different aspects.

All went well for the bridal prep but at the church the vicar told me that pictures were not allowed during the ceremony, which was disappointing but sometimes vicars and registrars can be awkward it is few and far between though.   If I am honest I did sneak in a few pictures of crucial moments of the service from the back of the church because I am being paid to take photographs and if I have to bend the rules a little bit I will do as long as it doesn't upset anyone.

For the transportation of guests a vintage double decker bus had been hired and for the bride and groom a horse and carriage to take them to The Warwickshire and with my local knowledge we were able to drive around the back lanes and arrive at the venue before the bus and the carriage.

The weather at the venue was sunny but we some cloud, the speeches were very good with a brutal best mans speech and then surprise or two for the guests with the announcement that Rosey was pregnant and the surprise guest of Steve Bull a famous Wolves football player arriving at the end of the speeches Rosey is a Wolves fan and Sean a Leicester Fan.

I  rounded the day off with a drone video selfie of the wedding crowd and the venue in the background. I am a qualified and insured drone (uav pilot) the Warwickshire has loads of space so I thought why not try a selfie as a bonus for the happy couple.  After this I left just after the first dance it was an enjoyable day here is small sample of the 500 images that were supplied to the Happy couple.

Alex & Jim Wedding Photography at Lord Leycester Hospital

The Lord Leycester is great venue and one of my favourite places in to do Wedding Photography in Warwick because unlike most venues it is a charity that looks after retired service men and they're wives. Similar to the Chelsea Pensioners the "Brothers" who run the Lord Leycester are all ex services who run the building under the supervision of a "master" a retired officer in return for their lodgings. Also the venue is a fantastic building and my hope that is the more weddings that are held there the more money can be invested in its upkeep.

Warwickshire Wedding Photographer

On Saturday 11th June provided the Wedding Photography for Chris & Katherine Fenwick at the Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick. The Lord Leycester Hospital is such a picturesque building with well kept gardens as well as the brothers on hand to help out.

I was booked for a two hour coverage package which is very popular for couples that want wedding photography of the service the signing of the register, portraits plus pictures of families and friends but without committing to hiring a wedding photographer all day.

The day started at The Rose and Crown pub for the bridal party then onto the Lord. The weather was kind to us despite there being some rain earlier in the day , it was a very happy relaxed wedding.

Wedding Photography, Warwick, Warwickshire

Back on the 29th August I provided the wedding photography of Kevin and Nicole at the Alderson House in Warwick. It was a lovely day and even after a week of unsettled weather the sun came out for a perfect sunny wedding day.

Alderson House in Warwick is ideal for small to medium size weddings; its usual purpose is the meeting lodge for the Provincial Grand Lodge of the Warwickshire Masons. Set in a Georgian town house on Warwick High Street, the venue certainly has lots of character and space making it ideal for small to medium size weddings.
The ceremony was held in the Masonic Temple which is very grand as one might expect, then there was has an attractive garden for drinks and elegant dining room for the wedding breakfast.

For the wedding photography I was booked for two hours coverage. I have covered many wedding for two hours, the package suits small to medium weddings.  It is surprising how much can be captured in this time.

I arrived at 10.00 to photograph the dining room, the groom and groom men, and then made my way upstairs to photograph the harpist, the guest arriving and the general scene, at 10.30 the ceremony started up until 11.00 am. After this I was doing casual portraits and groups, then a mock cutting of the cake then finally back outside for the bride and groom portraits with me finishing at 12 noon.

Our two hour wedding photography package costs £300.00 including typically 70 – 150 images edited to a high standard copy right free.  The variance in image numbers depends on how many people are at the wedding. These images are then presented on disk with a leather or fabric presentation sleeve available in a wide range of colours, with an image mounted on the outside.

Natasha & John Wedding Photography

On the 5th August it was the wedding of Natasha & John who got married in Bournemouth Registry office and then had a humanist wedding ceremony on the beach at Mudeford, close to Christchurch in Dorset. It was a intimate affair but for what it lacked in size it made up for in impact. After the registry office ceremony we headed to Christchurch where we a ferry boat had been laid on to take us to Mudeford beach and then the service was held on the beach.

It was a great experience to photograph a wedding on a beach and not something I had expected to happen since Warwick is one of the furthest places from the sea in the UK and John didn’t actually mention the ceremony was happening on the beach until the day!

Weddding Photography Gurdwara Sahib Royal Leamington Spa

I would like to share a few images from the very enjoyable and interesting wedding of Nicky and Harbir that I was commissioned to photograph at the end of June 2014.

My brief was to be the brides photographer this included informal portraits and detail capture in the morning and then reportage wedding style wedding photography coverage of the wedding ceremony at the Gurdwara Sahib in Royal Leamington Spa in the afternoon.

The day was very enjoyable and interesting especially to meet all the families involved who were very friendly and helpful in guiding me through the ceremonies and formalities of the day.

I have shared a few of my favourite images below.

Wedding Photography at Warwick Castle

It’s been flat out since Christmas and in busy times unfortunately blog writing becomes very low priority and lots of great stories are missed. So I’ll revisit some of the projects I have been involved in since the beginning of the year in future updates.

Firstly I wanted to mention the wedding photographs I did of Farrah and Greg an American couple who whilst honeymooning in the UK, wanted wedding photography of them that featured Warwick Castle.  They had requested to have them taken at the Mill Garden which is a venue I have used many times due to its picturesque location by the river and the castle.

The gardens were booked in January and then photo date was Tuesday 6th May. All was well until mid April when the trustees of the gardens called me to say that due to a planning dispute on Mill Street, the gardens could no longer be used for wedding photographs...gutted!
This news was somewhat disturbing because I had a client who wanted pictures with Warwick Castle in the background and to my knowledge the gardens were the only place I knew of that could fit the brief.

Apart from the obvious being Warwick Castle itself, but I know they have their own roaming photographer and also they hold weddings there so it seemed unlikely they would let me go in with Farrah & Greg and wonder about taking wedding photographs. But I was wrong one phone call and it was confirmed that we could use the castle grounds just as long as we paid the entrance fee and didn’t take photographs in the castle interiors.

This was great news and wedding photographs in the grounds of Warwick Castle is far better than what could of been achieved at the Mill Gardens albeit at extra cost but it was worth every penny.

Then on 6th May the weather was excellent, Farrah and Greg looked perfect and we went off around the castle grounds and battlements. This is one of those great days when I really enjoy being a photographer and businessman because a challenge was set, I overcame it and finished the job with a happy client and a great finished product.

A Very Warwick Wedding

On 17th May 2013, I was delighted to be the official wedding photographer for the wedding of Joanne & Nick Kamen. The service was held at Shire Hall Registry Office and then with the aid of some vintage Rolls Royce’s we were whisked off to St Nicolas’s Park and then onto the Mill Garden at the foot of the Castle.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8362.jpg

When they came to book at my studio Joanne & Nick wanted the full wedding photography treatment including beautiful backdrops and cars but not the usual hotel venue. I suggested that after their service they should have their photographs taken at the Mill Garden on Mill Street; however the gardens were already booked, so Nick suggested that we use the gardens in St Nicholas’s park first and then went onto the Mill Garden.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8141.jpg

The plan worked a flawlessly, we did some photos in the square with the Rolls Royce’s and then some close family portraits in the park, whilst the Rollers went back to the square to pick up the rest of the party. In the park the flowers were in full bloom, I don’t think a hotel flower bed would have been as well kept.  Then we went onto the spectacular Mill Garden. I have done a few weddings at this garden and I cannot stress enough about what a beautiful place it is, the flowers beds and lawns are immaculate, then there is the romantic ruined bridge and the river and of course Warwick Castle. Wedding photography garden hire is £40, which I think is very reasonable for the views included.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8079.jpg

After the wedding photographs had finished I walked back to town with the wedding party through the old castle gate that leads off the St Nicholas roundabout, the path is carved through ancient rock and leads onto Castle Lane. I couldn’t help thinking on my walk back to my studio how well the wedding photography had worked and the guest experience of seeing some hidden gems of Warwick.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8270.jpg

I think this wedding is proof that there are alternatives to traditional church and hotel reception weddings that don’t scrimp on the wow factor.  It was also a great wedding to cover, everyone was easy to instruct and even the weather turned out well in the end after an anxious week of rain forecasts.

It was a great day all round.
