About Me

My interest in photography firmly took root when I studied Art & Design at Stratford College. I thoroughly enjoyed the photography aspect, particularly black and white film photography. I would often take my camera out with me when I was with friends to document our antics and landscapes, but it was photographing people that interested me the most. Especially after looking at old photographs in antique shops that I would visit at lunchtimes in Stratford. I was moved by the way photographic prints captured a moment in time that would always exist as a reminder of the way things once were.

Another influence was my father, who is a keen photographer and the person who gave me my first proper SLR camera, a Pentax Super A film camera for my sixteenth birthday. I still use and cherish the camera.

My photography career has been pretty varied. The first proper job was after leaving college, working in a camera shop in Stratford. Then, after a long break, I did my first wedding photography assignment in 2009 for a friend who, as a bonus of studying at Trinity College Oxford, came to have his wedding there. It was a grand start to wedding photography. I have continued to photograph weddings to this day.

In 2010, I rented a small studio in Leamington Spa on Satchwell Walk, specialising in headshots, jewellery photography, and passport photos. A random mix, but they say variety is the spice of life, and that's the approach I have applied to photography since.

Around the same time, drone technology was in its infancy. With a friend, we established a drone photography business called Dataq Technologies. This was when drones were very expensive and almost unheard of. While working for Dataq, we flew drones for the Health & Safety Executive as their go-to pilots and carried out many prestigious aerial photography assignments in London. We were one of the first companies to gain a commercial licence to fly drones. I was the seventh person in the world to obtain a commercial drone licence. I still fly drones for aerial photography and surveys.

Meanwhile, in 2012, after a short stay at 13 Market Place in Warwick, I opened my current studio at 1 Market Place, where I have been based ever since, continuing the tradition of engaging in a mix of photography disciplines. Customers often ask me what my favourite type of photography is, and honestly, I don't have a favourite; I enjoy all of it. I guess I do enjoy challenges. If an assignment includes something I haven't done before, that can be extra exciting, but I enjoy all aspects, whether it is in the studio, at a wedding or event, or doing something as simple as a passport photo. The most important thing for me has always been to do a good job and be polite and professional while doing so.

My interest in photography hasn’t wavered at all, I still regularly go on courses and seek out new photographic experiences. Outside of photography, I enjoy a challenge, whether it's cycling long distances, engaging in long-distance walks, or any kind of outdoor adventure. Other hobbies are visiting Warwick’s many fine pubs when I can, more so for the social aspect, although never have a drink if I work the following day.
