Country Wedding Photography during a Pandemic
Summer 2020 was a terrible summer for weddings not because of the weather for a change but because of the pandemic, the majority of my wedding photography bookings were postponed until 2021 and some have further postponed to 2022. There was one couple though who were determined not to let the pandemic put their plans on hold, these guys ploughed on regardless.
The wedding was scaled down from an exclusive wedding venue to the groom's grandparent’s garden with a brilliant marque and with the ceremony taking place in their local Church in Butlers Marston.
It's a lovely little village that has been home to the groom’s family for generations, the groom's mother was also the Church Warden, so I was allowed to set up at the Church in advance. I should have taken a picture of the Church key, it was size a small tennis racket!
For the group photography, I devised an elaborate plan to allow each family group to be socially distanced by marking out positions for everyone to stand in advance and then merging the groups together in photoshop to create the effect that everyone was stood together and worked it really well. The Vicar was a friend of the family and therefore didn't have to wear a mask which bought some normality to the wedding proceedings, the Church was decorated with bright yellow flowers and even though the ceremony and the wedding were scaled down it didn't stop well-wishers gathering in the churchyard to cheer the happy couple on when they left the Church.
The weather was a stark sunning day that mellowed as the day went on, I think the day was the best it could have been, and I know everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
