About Squire & Squire Photography

Relaxed, natural and thoughtful photography since 2009

So, Why Is It Called Squire & Squire?

Squire & Squire began as a venture between my cousin Dan and me. Dan later moved to France, while I continued with the business and decided to keep the name. I have always had an entrepreneurial drive and enjoyed exploring new opportunities. That outlook has shaped the business over the years, allowing me to work across many forms of photography and filmmaking while continuing to provide the personal services with which it began.

A Lifelong Interest in Photography

My interest in photography took root while studying Art & Design at Stratford College. I particularly enjoyed black-and-white film photography and would often take a camera with me to document the antics and escapades of my friends. During lunchtimes, I used to visit antique shops in Stratford and look through their old photographs. I was moved by the way a photographic print could preserve a moment in time and remain as a reminder of how things once were. That idea has stayed with me and continues to influence my work today. My father was another important influence. He gave me my first proper SLR camera, a Pentax Super A, for my sixteenth birthday. I still have and cherish it. One of my first jobs after college was working in a camera shop in Stratford, but the equipment is simply an enabler. My interest lies in the photography itself: observing what is happening, capturing the moment and creating an image that matters.

From One Oxford Wedding to Hundreds More

My first wedding photography assignment was for a friend at Trinity College, Oxford, in 2009. It was quite a setting for a first wedding and marked the beginning of something much bigger. Since then, I have photographed hundreds of weddings, usually around 30 each year. My approach remains relaxed, natural and fun. I concentrate on observing what is happening and capturing the genuine moments that make each wedding different. Of course, there are posed photographs too, but these do not need to feel rigid or uncomfortable.

Capturing Moments, Past and Present

Weddings are a major part of my work, but I have never wanted them to be my only focus. I do not see working across different forms of photography as a weakness. I see it as a strength because each discipline offers a different way of observing and recording the world. Photo restoration is particularly meaningful to me. Old photographs are snapshots of moments in time. They preserve past lives, familiar faces and experiences that might otherwise be forgotten. My photography follows the same philosophy. I capture moments as they happen now so that they can become part of someone’s history in the future.

My Early Drone Work In 2009

I became involved with Dataq Technologies at the beginning of the commercial drone industry. At the time, drones were expensive, unusual and only just beginning to be used professionally. We flew drones for government organisations and property developers, including projects in London. The UK was leading the way in commercial drone licensing and training, and I was among the earliest people to gain the BNUC-S commercial flying qualification. I still fly drones professionally for commercial photography and video projects. I also sometimes bring one to weddings when the location, weather and circumstances are suitable, providing a different view of the venue and its surroundings. I have kept all my previous drones. Together, they provide an interesting record of how dramatically the technology has changed since those early days.

From Leamington Spa to Warwick

In 2010, I rented a small studio on Satchwell Walk in Leamington Spa, where I provided headshots, jewellery photography and passport photographs. I later moved to a small studio above Hamlington’s in Warwick, photographing jewellery for David at Hamlington’s alongside family portraits and other studio work. In 2012, I moved into my current studio at 1 Market Place in Warwick. It is a smart, compact space with excellent natural light, overlooking the Market Place. This is where I complete my editing and provide services including headshots, portraits and passport photographs.

Every Photography Job Matters

I have always appreciated smaller jobs as much as larger projects. Having someone pop into the studio for a passport photograph can be a welcome break during a long day of editing. A passport photograph may be a small assignment, but it is a useful service that needs to be done properly. It suits my attention to detail and is something I have continued to enjoy providing throughout my career. I take time to understand what each customer needs, whether it is a quick studio appointment, a wedding, a portrait session or a larger commercial project. The most important thing is to do the job well while being friendly, polite and professional.

Photography and Video Around the World

Alongside photography, I have branched out into professional video production. My work has taken me around the world, including projects in Ireland, the United States and Mexico during 2025. I have worked with businesses and charities, and I enjoy the different creative challenges that each project brings. An assignment involving something unfamiliar can be particularly rewarding, but I enjoy the full range of my work, whether I am in the studio, filming on location or photographing a wedding.

Life Outside Photography Away from work

I enjoy being outdoors and immersed in nature. In June 2026, I completed the Tour du Mont Blanc and particularly enjoyed walking from place to place. I am also a keen kayaker and have completed several trips abroad. I enjoy the sea, wild swimming and almost anything that provides an opportunity to spend time in nature. Over the last few years, I have been renovating a house. It has been challenging because I previously had little interest in DIY, but I have gradually begun to enjoy it as my knowledge and confidence have grown. Cooking is another major interest, particularly French, Italian and Mediterranean food. In fact, my Instagram feed sometimes features more cooking than photography. I also enjoy landscape photography when time allows, although that is not very often.

Relaxed, Natural and Thoughtful Photography

Although Squire & Squire has developed considerably since that first wedding in 2009, my approach has remained consistent. I want people to feel comfortable, enjoy the experience and receive photographs that capture genuine moments in time. Whether I am photographing a wedding, restoring a treasured family photograph, creating a professional headshot or producing a commercial video, I bring the same care, curiosity and attention to detail.
